Every player is entitled to occupy any position on the field not occupied by any opposing player, provided that they do not initiate contact in taking such a position, and are not moving in a reckless or dangerously aggressive manner.

The thrower is allowed to intentionally deflect a pass off an opponent, as long as they move from the spot they threw it before they catch it.

To catch a pass is equivalent to establishing possession of that pass.

If the thrower calls a time-out while play is live and when their team has no more time-outs, the time-out call has no effect.

• A player on offence catches a pass near the sideline.
• Momentum takes them out of bounds.

The marker may start the stall count if they are within 3 metres of the pivot location.

• An offensive player catches the disc in-bounds.
• Their momentum causes them to leave the central zone and go out-of-bounds.

They must establish a pivot point in-bounds at the location where they crossed the perimeter line.

A force-out foul can only occur if a player is in the air when they are fouled.

• The thrower calls ‘Fast count’.
• The marker does not contest.
• The marker immediately resumes the stall count with the number last fully uttered before the call, minus one.
• The stall count gets to ‘5’.
• The thrower calls ‘Fast count’.
• The marker does not contest.

The marker must resume the stall count at ‘1’.

• The thrower fakes a pass.
• As they do, they move their foot away from the pivot location.
• The marker calls travel and points to the correct pivot location.
• The thrower establishes a pivot at the correct location.

The marker does not need to say ‘Stalling’ before resuming the stall count.

• An accepted offensive throwing foul is called by the marker.
• The thrower still has possession.

The thrower retains possession and any stall count must resume at maximum six.

A pick can be called if a defender is prevented from moving towards the disc to try and get a block, regardless of where their opponent is.

If the defence is called for being offside for the first time in the game, that defence must undertake the pull again.

• The thrower calls ‘Fast count’.
• The marker does not contest.
• The marker immediately resumes the stall count with the number last fully uttered before the call, minus one.
• The stall count gets to ‘5’.
• The thrower calls ‘Straddle’.
• The marker does not contest.

The marker must stop straddling, and resume the stall count at ‘1’.

It promotes Spirit of the Game to compliment an opponent when they make a good play on the disc.

• The thrower calls straddle.
• The marker does not believe it is a straddle.
• The marker does not have to reduce the stall count and can just continue stalling.

A player who has an issue regarding an open or bleeding wound has seventy (70) seconds to effectively address the issue. If they need additional time to address the issue, they must choose either to be substituted, or to charge their own team with a time-out.

If the pull lands out-of-bounds without first touching the playing field, the offence can choose to call ‘Brick’ or ‘Middle’.

Any player may briefly extend a stoppage of play to tie their shoes, but active play may not be stopped for this purpose.

If the marker initiates minor contact with the thrower’s chest, the thrower may call ‘Contact’.

• An offensive player catches the disc in the end zone they are attacking.
• They then lose possession due to ground contact related to the catch.
• The disc hits the ground.

This is a turnover.

• A player establishes possession of the disc, and then they are injured.
• The injury causes them to drop the disc.

That player retains possession of the disc.

The interval between the start of each number in the stall count must be at least one (1) second.

If the thrower calls a time-out while play is live and when their team has no more time-outs, the marker must add two (2) seconds to the stall count.

The marker can have their head above the throwers pivot, as long as it is one disc diameter away from the torso of the thrower.

• The defence (Team A) is offside for the pull.
• The offence (Team B) calls offside while the disc is still in the air.
• The offence drops the pull.

Team B can pick the disc up and establish a pivot point as per the offside rule.

To restart play when the thrower has the disc and there is a defender within reach, the defender must touch the disc.

For Mixed games, teams should discuss any strategies to make personnel match-ups easier to identify.

Pivots and wind-ups are part of the act of throwing.

The goal lines are part of the central zone.

You can throw while running after catching a pass, as long as you release the disc before your third ground contact, and you do not speed up or change direction until you release the disc.
